Admission Procedure

The Brooklyn Music Studio conducts an interview with each prospective student and their parent(s).
First year students

No previous musical training is required for either the child or parent.  The interview gives us an opportunity to meet the child and for the parents to learn about the Suzuki approach and the structure of our program.

Transfer students

At their interview transfer students will be asked to play a polished piece of music on their instrument to the best of their ability.

Observing A Class
Prospective parents are welcome to observe our classes of private lessons, group and theory classes,  and/or recitals.

Parent Involvement

Parents are involved in the musical learning of their child. They attend lessons with the child and serve as “home teachers” during the week. One parent learns to play before the child, so that s/he understands what the child is expected to do. Parents work with the teacher to create an enjoyable learning environment.
